How often do PRINCE AUGUST bring out new moulds? How long is the whole process of deciding on, sculpting and making new figure moulds? Who decides which figure moulds get made? Which type of figure moulds sell the best?

Hi STAND2. It seems to be a slow and expensive process getting new moulds made. We will have to be patient and keep dreaming. ;O)

How often do PRINCE AUGUST bring out new moulds? How long is the whole process of deciding on, sculpting and making new figure moulds? Who decides which figure moulds get made? Which type of figure moulds sell the best? Please be patient when posting on this forum, I am running multiple websites, including an ebay shop, plus graphic design, printing and photography for PA and thus may be occupied for a few days. Thanks for your questions and I will give you the best answer I can. Prince August has numerous plans for new moulds, but none are as yet in the production stage so I cannot confirm which will be released first. Complications can occur that results in a range being cancelled on the 11th hour and my predictions then make me out to be a liar. As soon as I have any new information I will supply it through our newsletters, trust me on this. Chris Tubb is our primary sculptor and is currently working on multiple Mithril LOTR releases and thus is not available to make more prince august figures at this time. It takes anything from weeks to months to plan a new release, depending on the size, complexity of tooling, amount in the release, technical issues, postal issues, copyright issues (Tolkien Enterprises has to agree to every LOTR release we make for Mithril). While Chris might make a figure over a long weekend, that figure is at least a week of work before it is ready to be cast. In my department I need to photograph a finished piece and a painted piece, create the packaging or outsource that packaging. We also need to get translations in french and Swedish as well. Our staff often have to postpone a new project if some tool in a current range breaks and needs replaceing to complete orders. This is just a taste of what it takes to make something. Lars Edman and Chris Tubb are the people who decide what is produced. I would be asked my opinion in these matters but the final decision is split between those two. Lars is the owner of PA. The final question is impossible to answer as we sell worldwide and have such a long history in this market. In France our Napoleonic series sell best, in Sweden our Karoliner and Vikings are very popular, in England we sell a lot of Fantasy armies and 25mm napoleonic moulds, etc. I hope that you find these answers useful.

Thanks for these answers. All very interesting. I didn't realise the same sculptor's did all the MITHRIL LOTR figures and the PRINCE AUGUST moulds! There's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes!
