Hey there, I'm new to casting, but I've done extensive reading about the subject over the last year. Recently, I built a small forge which I have been using to melt aluminum. I then pour the aluminum into one part plaster or paris molds. So far I have just been casting trees, more for practice than anything. I found this site while searching, and I would like to buy a mold here and cast aluminum figures if possible. I worry that either liquid aluminum will be too hot (1200 F) and damage the rubber molds, or the aluminum will be too viscous and not flow propely, resulting in incomplete figures and/or poor detail.

Well, I found the page the said aluminum was non-suitable and that the metal should not be higher than 700 F. With a metal mold, would it be possible to to cast aluminum figures?

Our moulds will not work with alluminum. The metal would burn/melt the mould.

I have no experience with metal moulds but certainly if you can make a mould in a metal which has a significantly higher melting point than aluminum then it might work. I never cast in that metal so I know nothing about how it would work. Sorry.
