I am very new to the casting hobby .... I am wanting information on how one goes about making a custom mold ... what materials does one use .... where to I get materials .... how long with a mold last ....

We have a custom mould service if you wish to avail of it. www.princeaugust.ie/custom/We also have some information on making a master mould on our Mithril website. www.mithril.ie/Intro/MasterMoulds.htmlWe are considering making some of that material available to buy from us. Send me an email about what you want and I may be able to help (no promises). A silicone mould can cast 30 to 50 times approx, depending on the complexity of the mould and any undercuts involved. A black rubber mould can cast much more, but again it depends on how it is treated, the heat of the metal and the complexity of the design. |
