Hi today the handle on one of my ladles broke it melted and slipt off sending melted metal flying! is there any way i can be sure this wont happen again? The handle melted? We never had that happen. The heat required to melt the metal used for casting is not hot enough to melt the ladle (for obvious reasons), and the plastic part of the handle is not supposed to be near the heat anyway. It may have been a flaw in that ladle that it broke. We have sold those ladles for many years and I had not had that happen yet. Has anyone else?

Not sure what yours looks like or is made of but I have several of them for melting Lead. HOWEVER, what I have done in far distant past was to take two pieces of wood long enough to almost completely cover the handle and attach it by drilling two holes trough the wood and metal handle of the ladles and bolting them together. Wood doesn't feel hot regarless of how hot the Lead gets. Such a piece of wood can be acquired at almost any lumber yard and is sold as molding for around the edges of a house.
