It doesn't seem right for all this discussion to be in one thread, so I'll start another.
I'm making a 54mm (1:32) toy castle for my 4 year old daughter, and I'm having a bit of trouble populating it. There are plenty of knights in armour from Britains, Airfix and others, but they're all in fighting poses, which is not what I want.
I want _some_ fighting poses, perhaps, for a joust, and maybe an archer or two. Mainly I am interested in Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Knights, Pages, Minstrels, Jesters, Monks, Farmers and ordinary medieval people (of all kinds). I want them mostly in reasonably peaceful poses, or at least, poses that are not too extreme (I was always annoyed as a child that the "crawling on his belly" toy commando couldn't do anything else).
I'm also interested in Fantasy/Fairytale themes (Wizards and Witches, at least). I'm not after anything Disney-esque!
So far I'm relying on Kinder Egg "Lord of the Rings" figures (a stroke of luck!) and casting my own sculptures (slow work). I have bought nothing from Prince August except 5 Star Metal and a ladle, though I have considered that a couple of Nativity figures might suit my needs. There might be one or two suitable figures in the chess sets, but I won't buy whole chess sets just for these.
Frustratingly, the German toy shops (I am British, living in Germany) are filled with excellent 80mm (I think) figures of all varieties that would exactly meet my needs. But the castle I'm making would be enormous if I built it on that scale.
So, if Prince August were to start a range of 54mm Medieval or Fantasy moulds, I would be delighted. Anyone else?
