Just wondering if any of you "old timers" have any secrets on cleaning the mould metal out of files. The wire brush does not seem to be able to keep up with the task!
Thanks in advance!

put the tip of the file in to your ladle when on the heat any metal clogging it will then run off into the ladle,... I used this way many times

I use a few different methods. One is to just use a wire wheel on my bench grinder. Just got to be carefull it doesn't grab the file and send it flying. Happened a few times to me. I try to use junk files from the flea market and when they get all clogged up with Lead, I simply put them in a vise and run a Butane torch over them. Lead just falls off sort of. Still leaves a coating on the file. Not sure if you have any flea markets around you but try them for old, used, rusted files. Normally really cheap and throwawayable.
